POSITION OVERVIEW:
NERD Lab is seeking a part-time, dynamic and engaging K-12 STEM Lab Assistant. This role is crucial for supporting our mission to expand local STEM activities/opportunities and will play a key role in facilitating high value learning experiences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- STEM Program Development: Take a lead role in identifying, developing, and conducting age-appropriate STEM activities. This includes active involvement in existing and new initiatives such as STEM Saturdays, after-school programs, robotics clubs, fieldtrips, etc.
- Summer Camps: Organize and lead summer camps designed to engage students in hands-on STEM learning.
- Science Labs for Homeschoolers: Develop and conduct science labs that align with Florida Education Standards, providing homeschoolers with quality lab experiences and access to specialized equipment and resources.
- Community Engagement and Events: Participate in organizing and leading community STEM events and competitions, aimed at fostering a broader interest in STEM fields within the local community.
- Collaboration and Outreach: Work alongside Director, facilitating student participation and engaging with local schools, families, and community organizations to promote STEM education and activities.
- Marketing and Promotion: Actively market and promote NERD Lab to attract students to various programs and events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A strong foundation in STEM fields, preferably with experience in educational settings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students of varying ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to design and lead interactive and educational STEM activities.
- Experience in organizing events or educational programs is highly desirable.
- Flexibility to work with diverse age groups and adjust to varying schedules, including weekends for specific programs like STEM Saturdays.
- MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
