  • Sunshine Au Pair B.V.  is a recognized Au Pair agency of the Dutch Immigration Office

  • REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME AN AU PAIR IN THE NETHERLANDS

    • You are at least 18 and no more than 25 years old at the time of the application.
    • You are unmarried
    • You do not have any (foster) children.
    • You have not had a residence permit for exchange in the Netherlands before.
    • You have not worked for the host family before, in the Netherlands or abroad.
    • You are not related, as a family member, to the host family. Related means: parents, children, brothers and sisters, grandfathers and grandmothers, grandchildren, uncles and aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, great-grandparents, and great-grandchildren.
    • You are going to live in the Netherlands temporarily on an exchange program as an au pair through a recognized au pair agency (recognized sponsor).
    • You will do light housekeeping tasks for the host family. You do this no more than 8 hours a day and for a maximum of 30 hours a week. You have two days off each week.
    • You will not carry out tasks for people who need more specialized care, for which you need to have a specific skill, such as nursing.
    • You have not paid any fees to an intermediary agency (Dutch or foreign) or au pair agency.
    • You have not paid more than €34 in costs to prepare for your stay in the Netherlands. For example, for registration and intermediary services by an intermediary agency or to take a course about staying in the Netherlands.

    Please note that your age preferences may limit the number of host families available to interview you, and you are not allowed to take care of people who are in need of more specialized care. More specialized care means care duties that require special skills.
  • During a period of twelve months, the Au Pair has the right to a holiday of two weeks, during which the Host Family will continue to pay the pocket money. The Au Pair agrees to go on a holiday, not earlier than 3 months after his or her arrival at the host family’s place.

  • Dental Care Policy for Au Pairs

    Routine dental cleanings and check-ups are not covered under the basic healthcare insurance provided to au pairs. Coverage for these services is only available if the au pair opts to purchase supplementary dental insurance. Additionally, orthodontic care including treatment for braces is not included in either the basic or supplementary plans and must be paid for out of pocket. Au pairs undergoing orthodontic treatment should be aware that they may incur significant personal expenses for related check-ups and care.

     

  • Medical Screening Requirement – hCG Test

    As part of the application and visa documentation process, an hCG (pregnancy) test may be required. This is a standard medical screening step requested by some embassies and medical providers to complete the au pair visa requirements.

    Cost of relevant apostilled documents
    All domestic travel costs, travel tax etc.
