The purpose of this form is to help both students and parents understand the expectations of taking an AP course. Advanced Placement courses are college level courses. Students may receive college credit or advanced placement if a three (3) or higher is achieved on the AP exam given at the end of the year. AP courses require a great deal of self-discipline, research, and independent study skills, the ability to work in self-motivated learning groups, and study hours beyond the classroom. The demands of an AP course stretch a students' academic and intellectual ability. The AP student must also demonstrate a high motivational level and possess the maturity necessary to successfully complete an AP course.
