Pond Cleanup Service Event: It’s the annual pond clean-up for the botanical gardens at Shore Acres State Park. This is the time of year the park drains the pond, and needs volunteer support to help clean out all the debris that has accumulated in the last year. Volunteers will also help to fertilize the pond lilies and trim shrubs along pond edge we normal can't get to when the pond is full. These efforts help the pond and the botanical gardens look spectacular for the rest of the year. This service event is for those ages 18 and older.
Garden Cleanup And Summer/Fall Preparation Service Events: The Rangers of Shore Acres will be holding multiple beautification party cleanups and preparation parties for the botanical gardens and varying day-use areas within the Sunset Bay Management Unit, including Shore Acres State Park and Golden and Silver Falls State Park. There will be something for everyone to help out with: weeding, trimming, mowing, mulching, painting, staining, litter picking, and pulling the invasive English ivy. Lend a hand and help get the park ready for a fantastic summer!
Ivy Pull Service Events: Join Park Rangers at Shore Acres State Park for our annual ivy pull! Invasive species of ivy are prevalent throughout the pacific northwest and tend outcompete native plants and intentionally planted ornamentals in the gardens. Assist park rangers in identifying and eradicating the weed from the park property, and learn about the upkeep and history of the gardens. Lend a hand and help get the park ready before winter begins!
