New Music on the Bayou is happy to offer two $1000 travel scholarships in order to encourage a broad spectrum of diversity at our festival. The purpose of the scholarships are to bolster participation by underrepresented communities, whether defined by gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or other. One of the scholarships is specifically designated for a Black composer to address historical and systemic racial inequality in the field of American composition.
To apply, use this form to submit a one-page written statement in PDF format detailing:
- Your need for financial assistance
- How participation at this festival will benefit you
- How your inclusion will enhance the diversity of the festival
A letter of support from a mentor, teacher, colleague, or friend in support of your application must be submitted separately to firstname.lastname@example.org for complete consideration.
The deadline to be considered for the travel scholarship is March 31, 2024. Recipients will be notified by email on April 14, 2024.
