One of my physician colleagues drank too much at a holiday party and inappropriately touched one of our nurse's buttocks. It's several months later and she is now filing a complaint. I think she is over reacting and to tell you the truth, I don't get why she waited so long. I've seen her around him since the party and she has never mentioned this before now. He's a really nice guy and a great worker, and our patients love him. Plus, he has done really nice things for her like letting her leave early to pick up a sick child, and he once brought in a baseball glove for her son as he just started little league. Question: Is it OK to just talk to him and get him to apologize? I hate to see a good man go through this when he was drunk and certainly didn't mean anything.*

I'm the director of an ER and several of our nurses and one of our PAs are men in their 20's. They are fun loving guys and they often can be heard describing their sexual activities of the previous evening and occasionally they will put up what they think are amusing photos and sayings about women's bodies. They've never inappropriately touched anyone and they never swore or berated any of our staff. Occasionally they like to joke with some of the female MAs and front staff. On one of the lockers the staff all share one of them printed out a photo of a large breasted woman and wrote underneath it "What do you think of them apples?" I don't condone the behavior, but I remember being young and that kind of stuff is just what young men seem to do. I can tell some of the female staff don't like it but I've never heard them complain so I am not inclined to do much about this.Question: If no one complains about it I don't have to worry about it. Yes or no?*

I am sick and tired of watching one of the older male physicians upset our nursing staff with inappropriate comments, come-ons and threats if they don't in his words "Be nice" to him. I am a middle aged front office worker and single parent and I cannot afford to lose this job -- he is a senior partner and literally signs my checks. One of the nurses filed a complaint and they named me as a witness. I am terrified of what he can do to me if I report what I see and hear, but they guy is clearly a sexual harasser and the nurses really need it to stop. Question: Do I have any protection under the law?*
