    FINANCIAL AID & REWARD APPLICATION

  • As a part of its mandate, the SAC Alumni Association (SACA) has established a system to assist deserving students at Saint Augustine’s College (SAC) with financial aid or reward, provided they meet the required eligibility standards.  These guidelines are published to aid member alumni classes and other interested parties in determining the level at which they would like to contribute to this program.

     FINANCIAL AID / CATEGORIES

    The financial aid or reward will be awarded in one of the following categories.

     A)      Performance

     B)      Merit

     C)      Community

     The majority of financial awards given under these guidelines are envisioned to be directed to current SAC students under the ‘scholarship’ moniker. In that regard, SACA advises that this policy allows for awarding financial awards in the form of Grants and Scholarships.

    GRANTS & SCHOLARSHIPS

    In these guidelines, a Scholarship is considered a ‘Financial Reward’ and is awarded under the ‘Performance’ category in the following instances;

     Outstanding Academic Performance

                       or

    Outstanding Athletic Performance.

    Scholarships may only be awarded in the following manner;

    1.       FULL SCHOLARSHIP – The recipient of this scholarship is entitled to receive the full amount of tuition and textbooks for the school year.

    2.       TUITION SCHOLARSHIP – The recipient of this scholarship is entitled to receive the full amount of tuition for the school year. Textbooks are not included in this award.

     3.       HALF SCHOLARSHIP – The recipient of this scholarship is entitled to receive an amount equivalent to half the amount of tuition and textbook fees for the school year.

    4.       PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIP – The scholarship recipient is entitled to receive the full tuition payment for at least two (2) school year terms. Textbooks are not included in this award.

     In these guidelines, a Grant is considered ‘Financial Aid’ and is awarded under the ‘Merit’ and or the ‘Community’ categories in the following instances;

     Outstanding Merit Award

                     or

    SACA Community Award

     An Outstanding Merit Award is a financial aid that may be awarded to students who excel in a particular subject (e.g., Math, Literature, Sciences, etc.) in lieu of granting the particular student a scholarship. These awards will be granted for a minimum of one term but can be granted for longer periods if necessary.

     A SACA Community Award is a financial aid that may be awarded to students who are good general students and possess strong school spirit. It may also be awarded to students who present unique financial difficulties.

     All categories of financial aid and reward may be granted in the name of a member alumni class, any individual alumni member, or ‘In Memory’ of a particular alumnus who has passed away.
