  • Georgina Public Library Maker Space Agreement and Waiver

  • All patrons ages 12 and above must complete this waiver before accessing  Georgina Public Library's Maker Space at Discovery Branch. Patrons must have a Georgina Public Library card in good standing to access the Maker Space.

    Children ages 12-15 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the waiver on the child's behalf. Parents or guardians must add a separate library card number.

    Children under the age of 12 are not permitted to fill out a waiver. An adult with a signed waiver must accompany and supervise their child at all times while in the Maker Space.

    This waiver is available in an alternate paper format upon request. Please speak to a staff member in person to receive a paper copy.

      •  Children 12 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
      • Parents/guardians are responsible for their children's use of Maker Space equipment
      • Participants must stay with the equipment during use (except for the 3D printer).
      • Print jobs must not exceed four (4) hours duration. Longer print jobs may be accepted on a case by case basis. 
      • There must be no printing of weapons, sexually explicit material, and other materials that violate the Library’s Policies.
      • The library does not accept responsibility if a project is destroyed, does not print or cut correctly, does not work, or if any of the users' personal equipment or materials are damaged while accessing any of the library's Maker Space equipment.
      • Vinyl cutting jobs must not exceed 12x12 inches of library-provided vinyl. Customers can provide their own materials, but must consult with a staff member first.
      • All files on Maker Space computers will be reset after each session. Users are responsible for saving their work to their own cloud or external storage device such as a USB.
      • Maker Space computers are reserved for maker space activities only. They are not available for general computer use such as email, word processing, internet browsing, social media etc.
      • Equipment must be used in the Maker Space and cannot be taken off-site.
      • Items made in the Maker Space that are not picked up within 30 days will become property of the Library.
      • The user assumes responsibility for complying with applicable intellectual property laws.
      • No food or beverage is allowed in the Maker Space. Water is allowed in a closed container.

       

      • I understand and accept that there may involve certain risks, dangers, and hazards in the use of the library Maker Space. I freely accept and fully understand and assume all risks, dangers and hazards, and the possibility of personal injury, property damage or loss resulting therefrom.
      • I agree to release and hold harmless, Georgina Public Library and its officers, employees, volunteers, committees and boards, all claims or liability related to any accident that may arise as a result of my (or my child's) use of the maker space.
