Greg Young was a standout player at AFC Lightning from U9 to U19 playing for the 84 Gold team.  He continued his soccer career at Jacksonville University and had a true love for his former club and the game of soccer.  In June 2023, Greg passed unexpectedly, and in his name, we will award one AFC Lightning HS senior who is continuing his soccer journey in college with the Greg Young Scholarship.

“I had the pleasure of coaching Greg Young and know firsthand what a special person he was. Greg loved to play, was a great teammate, and became the biggest Atlanta United fan from their very first game” said AFC Lightning Executive Director Steve Muccillo.  “His family knows how much soccer meant to him and want to help others like him continue their soccer career. We, at AFC Lightning, hope this becomes an annual award to a deserving AFC Lightning senior”.

Deadline to apply is Friday, May 3rd, 2024.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Applicant must be a male player currently playing with AFC Lightning and 
in good standing with the club.
• Applicant must be a current high school senior (graduating high school 2024) and will be playing college soccer the Fall after their HS graduation.
• Applicants may be asked to provide financial documents to the selection 
committee.
