  • Summer 2024 Environmental Intern Application

    Environmental Interns is a high school program sponsored by the Math Science Nucleus and funded by Alameda County Flood Control and Water Conservation District. Students learn the science behind the environment and they actually get to work on restoration project at Tule Ponds at Tyson Lagoon. Projects for Summer 2024 are split into 2 sessions held in either June or July. If you have questions, email Monica Esqueda (esqueda@msnucleus.org).  Deadline is APRIL 30, 2024
  • Session 1 labs and lectures in June will focus on the biological and geological side. Service portion will give teams challenges on habitat restoration. Students will explore how flora is distributed depending on the geologic make-up of an area.

    Session 2 labs and lectures in July will focus on chemical analysis of area and will collect data using a spectrophotometer, learn skills to understand non-point pollution, and learn how to evaluate the elements in samples. Service days will center around learning ways to keep ponds clean during the summer.
