The Acworth Business Association will be presenting four $1,000 scholarships available to high school students who fit the eligibility criteria. 

About Acworth Business Association
The Acworth Business Association is dedicated to supporting local business owners, educators, leaders, churches and organizations in Acworth, GA and the surrounding communities. ABA strives to create opportunities and provide resources that promote improvement and development of the businesses, churches, cities, and schools within our community. 

Award Notification and Payment
The winning scholarship recipient will be notified via email no later than April 15th. Scholarships will be awarded on May 1st at the ABA Luncheon. Scholarship payment will be made in one installment in August upon receipt of official notification of enrollment/registration for classes. Payment will be made directly to the college or university on behalf of the recipient.

Acceptance of the award constitutes permission for Acworth Business Association to use the recipient’s name in recognition as a recipient of the scholarship in the organization’s publications and announcements.

Scholarship Instructions & Guidelines

The Acworth Business Association annually awards Scholarships to (4) graduating high school seniors whom have demonstrated academic excellence, outstanding leadership, service within their community, entrepreneurial spirit, and extra-curricular success within athletics or fine arts while participating in their schools. Scholarship honoree will receive a $1,000 scholarship to offset the cost of educational expenses including, but not limited to, tuition, room & board, or books.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicant must meet the following criteria to be eligible for consideration by the Acworth Business Association Scholarship Selection Committee:

• Graduating senior from the following member high school(s): Allatoona, Kennesaw Mountain, North Cobb, or Private – (Brookwood Christian, Cornerstone, North Cobb Christian, The Link School).
• Minimum 2.5 GPA.
• Demonstrate active participation in extracurricular activities.
• Demonstrate active involvement within their community through community service.
• Leadership, Employment, Awards & Recognition while not required are highly valued

Application Criteria
Applicant complete, include, and submit all of the following for consideration by the Scholarship Selection Committee. Any incomplete applications will not receive consideration:

• List of all school, community, and/or extracurricular activities, including leadership positions
• A copy of high school transcript.
• Applicant must submit one (1) letter of support/ recommendation from an individual, such as a teacher, coach, principal, employer, or pastor, who are qualified to address the candidate’s qualities, community impact and suitability for this award.
• Submit a personally written essay (300 words or less) outlining the applicant’s future goals, aspirations, and what it means to “Create your own success.”

Letter of Support Instructions

To the Applicant: Please copy the portion below and send these instructions to the individual writing a letter of support. Letter of support should be included with your application. All applications must be complete and must be received no later than Thursday, March 27th.

The letter should then be returned to the applicant and uploaded for inclusion in the scholarship application.

The Scholarship Selection Committee would like to thank you for supporting the applicant, as a trusted friend and ally, in this scholarship selection and award process. The information you provide will remain completely confidential and will only be used for consideration by the Acworth Business Association Scholarship Selection Committee for the sole purpose of selection and award process. The Committee may contact you if needed.

You are being asked to submit a letter of recommendation for _________________________ in support of his/her application for an Acworth Business Association Scholarship.

The Acworth Business Association Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has demonstrated success in the classroom, evidence of extracurricular activities, shown leadership qualities, and given back to their community. Awards are made to graduating high school seniors who attend one of the following high schools: Allatoona, Kennesaw Mountain, North Cobb, or qualifying private schools. The individual must plan to attend a fully accredited two- or four-year college/university in the United States, starting no later than Fall 2025.

The Acworth Business Association Scholarship honorees receive a $1,000 scholarship award to help offset the cost of educational expenses including, but not limited to, tuition, housing, board, or books. Scholarships will be awarded on May 1, 2025 at the ABA Luncheon.

The Acworth Business Association Scholarship Selection Committee values your observations, feedback, and evaluation of the applicant’s suitability for this award. Thank you for addressing the following in your letter of support:

• How long and under what circumstances have you come to know the applicant?
• Describe the applicant’s strengths and personal characteristics. We are particularly interested in the applicant’s academic and athletic success, extracurricular activities, leadership, and community service.
• Discuss the applicant’s potential for future success.
• Please provide any additional comments or insights relating to the applicant; such as motivation, initiative in pursuing goals, work responsibilities, community service, etc.; that you feel would be helpful for the committee to know.

• I understand the Acworth Business Association Scholarship Selection Committee may conduct investigations related to the information provided herein and agree to hold the Committee harmless of any claims of liability resulting from these investigations.
• I understand that any false or misleading information may disqualify me from consideration for the Acworth Business Association Scholarship.
• I understand that, if awarded a scholarship, I will be required to submit proof of registration as a full-time degree seeking student at a two- or four-year college or university in the United States for the Fall 2022 semester before any award payment will be made. Furthermore, I understand and accept that failure to be properly registered can lead to revocation of the full amount of the award.
• If awarded a scholarship, and if mutually concurred, I agree to allow Acworth Business Association to use my name and picture in any newsletter, website, press release, or other lawful media in recognition as a recipient of the scholarship.
