  • SLIDING SCALE PRICING

    Tickets for workshops are sold on a sliding scale and we encourage you to pay according to your available resources. Those with greater financial privilege contribute more, allowing those with less access to pay according to their means. This allows Franconia to sustain its services while making accessibility as broad as possible. Sliding scale prices can be seen in the dropdown menus. Sliding scale pricing is available for all Franconia Education Programs thanks to a grant from the Hugh J. Andersen Foundation.

    Plant Dyeing | Sept 5, 1-4PM. Join dye-master Maddy Bartsch and learn how to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind prints on fabric using foraged flowers, leaves, and grasses from the grounds at Franconia Sculpture Park. Participants will learn about the science behind dyeing with plants and forage, bundle, and steam their creations to yield a stunning and vibrant printed fabric. Beginners welcome!

We will walk through Franconia Sculpture Park to practice identification, foraging ethics, and uses for what we find; questions strongly encouraged! Rain or shine!

Participants will gather high-quality seeds to help restore and preserve vital local prairie habitats while enjoying the beautiful outdoor art landscape. It’s a wonderful opportunity to support regional conservation efforts and connect with fellow nature enthusiasts in our community! Rain Date Sunday, Oct 11

    Willow Walk & Tension Trays - Oct 17, 1-4PM. Get to know these amazing plants that grow all around Franconia! Basketmaker and willow enthusiast Bozena Scheidel will lead a guided walk to visit willow stands around the park. We'll discuss some of the ways willows tend to the land they grow on, and how we can be careful stewards to these plants and the land. We'll weave willow tension trays together with some cultivated basket willows and some locally harvested willows.

You'll learn the fundamentals of rug tufting using a tufting gun, choose from a variety of colors, and leave with a custom handmade piece, no prior experience required, and all materials are provided.

    PHOTOGRAPHY POLICY

    I hereby give my permission for images of me and each of the participants in my party captured during the workshop through video, photo, and digital means, to be used solely for the purposes of Franconia Sculpture Park promotional material, publications and grant reporting, in print and online, and I waive any rights of compensation or ownership thereto.

    REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY

    No refunds will be given in the event that participants are unable to attend a workshop. On a case by case basis, Franconia may allow people to transfer their registration to a different workshop.

    In the case of cancellation due to weather or other extenuating circumstance, Franconia Sculpture Park will attempt to reschedule the workshop. In the event that this is not possible, a full refund will be returned to each participant.

    I understand that this workshop requires light physical activity and that Franconia is not responsible or liable for injury.
