We, the undersigned concerned neighborhood residents and supporters, respectfully petition NYC Community Board 1 to support our opposition to the licensure and opening of I Bud You NY, a retail cannabis dispensary and consumption lounge seeking to operate at 475 Greenwich Street, on the corner of Greenwich Street and Watts Street.
Notably, 475 Greenwich Street is directly across the street from an art school, two short blocks from Hudson River Park, one block from a children's daycare center, and in close proximity to several preschools, children's activity centers, and a church.
The neighborhood, this block, and Holland Tunnel commuters will all be negatively impacted. There is currently no retail on this street (Watts). Their customers would begin to double park on Watts and Canal to walk into the shop and buy cannabis while pedestrian customers who might have impaired judgement from enjoying the product, may try to cross Canal Street mid-block, possibly loiter and smoke on narrow sidewalks, making an already complicated and dangerous traffic situation worse. Residents of this neighborhood, and our building in particular, are already subject to severe noise pollution and congestion from the Holland Tunnel traffic along Watts blocking the through-traffic on Canal. In addition, with more congestion, we will almost certainly see more accidents at the corner of Greenwich and Canal, already one of the most accident prone intersections in the city. All of these factors make this an inappropriate location for this business.

Please SIGN THIS PETITION opposing the cannabis dispensary license approval to operate at 475 Greenwich Street.
Moreover, WE URGE ALL OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO ATTEND THE COMMUNITY BOARD 1 MEETING ON FEBRUARY 15, 2024, to voice their concerns in person and show the Board how important this issue is to our community.
