Our work (whether it involves consultation or tax preparation) is based solely on the information you provide.
- We may ask for clarification or additional documentaion to ensure accuracy.
- We are not responsible to discover fraud or other irregularities, should any exist.
- We will work to find all the credits and deductions you are legally entitled to.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- It is your responsibility to provide all information required for a complete and accurate tax return.
- To provide all information needed in a timely manner.
- To keep with the completed work, all documents, and records that support your income and deductions such as W2's, 1099's, receipts, bank statments, and other data that form the basis of income and deductions, as you may need to provide them to a taxing authority later.
Please carefully review all work completed by our office before you sign. You have the final responsibility for anything submitted to a taxing authority. You are responsible to not commit fraud.
OUR FEES
Our fees vary based on the complexity of the return, schedules, and forms prepared. Tax preparation fees apply once preparation services begin, regardless of whether the return is filed.
Clients may choose to pay their tax preparation fee by electronic payment or have it deducted directly from their refund when applicable.
Please note: Carolina Tax Xpress reserves the right to invoice for any tax preparation work started, including returns that are prepared but not filed.
TAX DOCUMENTS
All clients receive one included copy of their completed tax return through the Carolina Tax Xpress client portal. If a client prefers to receive their tax return by email instead of the portal, this must be requested at the time of the appointment or prior to delivery. For your convience, returns will remain accessible in the portal until October 15th.
Additional copies of a current year or prior year tax return are $50 per return. Please allow up to 48 hours after payment for processing.
PENALTIES, EXAMINATIONS, AND NOTICES
The IRS and state taxing authorities may assess penalties for certain offenses. These include understatement of income, filing after the deadline, underpaying estimated taxes, or under-withholding taxes. Tax authroities may also select any return for examination.
If your return is selecyed for your examination or audit, you may be required to provide supporting documents or records to substantiate items of income, deductions, or credits reported on your return.
PRIVACY POLICIES
Tax preparers are bound by professional standards of confidentiality. Whether you are a current or former client, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the confidentiality of your personal and financial information. We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information obtained in the course of our practice except as required or permitted by law, or is necessary to properly provide our services to you.
ARBITRATION
In the event of any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to this engagement or the services provided, the parties agree to first attempt to resolve the matter through good-faith negoatiation.
If the dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation, the parties agree to submit the dispute to mediation administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Mediation Rules.
If the dispute is not resolved through mediation, the dispute shall be resolved through binding arbitration.
AGREEMENT
The letter will serve as our agreement in this matter. You are hereby advised that each item of income or expense can be substantiated by receipts, canceled checks, or other documents. This information is true and accurate to the best of my (our) knowledge. I understand that these terms will continue to be enforced for the succeeding years of our engagement.

By signing below, you acknowledge that you have read and understood your responsibilities and our responsibilities in doing this tax return.
If your refund is offset to fulfill child support, student loans, past due IRS debts, or if your check is mailed to you, you are STILL obligated to pay the fees associated with filing your return. **
