Eligibility
The fellowship is available at the undergraduate level for student participants in the SEAYLP and PYLP (not adult participants) and YSEALI, facilitated by NIU.
Students should apply for admission to their preferred program at NIU at International admissions.
Requirements
Should an applicant be offered a SEAFellowship, they are expected to:
- Serve as an ambassador of the SEAFellow Program
- Maintain full-time enrolment
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Complete the minor in Southeast Asian Studies
Award amount
The SEAFellowship is valued at approximately $19,000 per academic year for undergraduate tuition only. Degrees in Computer Science, Engineering, and Nursing exceed this amount.
Please note that the SEAFellowship does not cover:
- Estimated annual fees for academic enhancement, student medical insurance, and general fees ($5306.24 in AY 2023-24)
- Estimated on-campus housing and meal plan ($13,680 in AY 2023-34)
- Books, course material fees, and certain other fees depending on degree ($500)
- Support for family members accompanying the applicant (variable)
If awarded the SEAFellowship, a student must pay for these using their own sources. You will be asked to provide proof of these funds when you apply for your student visa.
