NEW YORK STATE GUERNSEY PRINCESS RULES
1. Each candidate must be a member in good standing of the Junior Guernsey Breeders’ Association. If they win they will need to become a member of The American Guernsey Association. 2. Each candidate, as of January 1st must be between seventeen to twenty years of age. 3. Each candidate must complete the application, be interviewed and give a speech at the state meeting. Each speech shall be a minimum of six minutes and a maximum of eight minutes. Contestants may choose any subject pertaining to Guernsey cattle and the Dairy Industry. For subject matter we wish to encourage exploration and understanding of any and all entities of the dairy industries, emphasizing Guernsey's role. Current policies, affairs and trends in the industry are suitable topics.
CODE OF CONDUCT
1) The New York State Guernsey Princess shall represent the New York State Guernsey Association at all times when on official public appearances which have been approved by the Board of Directors or the New York State Guernsey Advisor and shall abide by the following guidelines. a) She shall promote the New York State Guernsey Association, Guernsey cow and her product. b) She shall uphold the highest ideals of ladylike conduct, dress, poise, and personality. c) She shall not consume any alcoholic beverages while representing the New York State Guernsey Association at any Guernsey function. d) When public appearances have been approved, she shall attend planned functions of the host relating to Guernsey affairs in general. She shall not use the title of New York State Guernsey Princess out of context of Guernsey interests for personal gain. e) She will be expected to clear any appearance with the New York Board of Directors or New York State Junior Advisor, if she has a doubt relative to participation. 2) The selection of New York State Guernsey Princess is limited to candidates between the ages of seventeen and twenty years old by January 1st of the year they run. The applicants for New York State Guernsey Princess must not have been married or have had any children prior to competing for this honor. In the event the New York State Princess marries or becomes pregnant during her reign, she shall be expected to forfeit her title to the first runner-up. 3) The New York State Guernsey Princess shall avoid informal attire as much as possible on occasions of official representations. If for any reason, the New York State Guernsey Princess cannot uphold the above standards, she will be expected to forfeit her title to the first runner-up upon notification by the President of the New York State Guernsey Association. I have read the above Code of Conduct for the New York State Guernsey Princess and promise that if I am selected as New York State Guernsey Princess, I will abide by this Code of Conduct with the understanding that any violation may result in the forfeit of my title.
