ABOUT THE BOARD AND COMMITTEES
The Board is the most senior management body in the organisation. To be eligible for the Board you must have a lived experience of migraine, have some experience of governance or leadership, and meet a number of legal requirements including having a Director ID.
The Advisory Committee provides advice to the board on all matters to do with patient support and services. To be eligible for this committee you must be significantly affected by migraine and preferably be a known member of the Migraine Australia community.
The Gift Fund Committee provides oversight and governance on fundraising and how the organisation invests donors money to ensure we achieve the greatest benefit towards the organisation's goals. Experience in fundraising or managing money is desirable.
The Organising Committee is the engine room of the organisation, planning and coordinating all the day to day work. Members of the OrgCom, as it is affectionately known, are well organised and good at leading others, and take on a coordination role in one of the working groups.
The Working Groups are:
- The Engagement Working Group manages all our engagement, communication and media activities including social media, website, email and volunteers.
- The Administration Working Group is responsible for managing the correspondence, documentation, financial and membership records.
- The Advocacy Working group is responsible for all stakeholder relations, government relations, and advocacy campaigns.
- The Support Working Group, coordinates all the support groups and related activities, and provides any support required by the Advisory Committee.
- The Fundraising Working group, that manages all major donations, applications for grants, fundraising appeals, and relationships with philanthropists, and provides support as required to the Gift Fund Committee.
- There's also a special working group for Migraine Awareness Month.
SPECIFIC ROLES
The following specific office bearer roles are currently vacant or will soon be available:
TREASURER - a very important position within the Board managing our financial accounts and providing regular updates and reports, will also liase with the Gift Fund Committee regularly. Ideal candidate is an accountant or someone with experience in preparing financial reports. Must be eligible to be a director.
COMPANY SECRETARY - provide administrative support and manage the agendas and minutes for the Board. The person in this role can also choose to join the board. Suits someone with legal training or secretariat experience.
COMMITTEE SECRETARY - provide administrative and manage the agendas and minutes for a committee, as well as support the Company Secretary as required. Two committee secretaries are required for the Organising and Gift Fund Committees.
