Thank you for your interest in Cascadia Clubhouse. It is truly a unique organization to be a part of. Cascadia Clubhouse's mission is to build an equitable community for adults with developmental disabilities by fostering social connections and personal growth through the arts, recreational activities, and enrichment programming. Our programming is always changing, we are always updating the fun, and we are always diligent about safety.
Our staff and volunteers love to work with our clubhouse "Members" and with each other. We are a creative and energetic bunch who love to get silly, support each other, and work together to find positive solutions when needed. We all get a little quirky because it creates a more fun environment for everyone. We take our work environment seriously because it affects our quality of life. Everyone wants to go home at the end of their day feeling full-filled and happy, not stressed or overwhelmed.
We work in an environment that requires a lot of patience, focus, and kindness. Seeing the world from the perspecitve of Cascadia Clubhouse Members with a variety of developmental disabilities is critical. We accomodate them, not the other way around. At Cascadia Clubhouse, there is always going to be music, art, loud laughter, and bad-Dad jokes. This program is for our Members, we want them to be themselves and to have fun. There tend to be a lot of hugs, high-fives, and fist bumps. Through all the excitement of seeing their friends, the program gets loud, people are up and about, and at times there are outbursts or meltdowns. But overall, it is truly a joyous place to be.
Our Members are full of love and acceptance, and they grow quickly attached to staff and volunteers. It is difficult for them when someone stops volunteering or resigns after a short time. Before applying, please make sure that you can work in this environment and that you have a commitment to the organization.
Please note: Cascadia Clubhouse is a safe place for all who attend, including volunteers and staff. We work with a very special population, and we want to protect them at all costs. Therefore, every applicant for employment or to volunteer is required to undergo a thurough background check through the State of Washington Department of Social and Health Services(DSHS) prior to working at any of our programs. We cannot fulfill court requirements for volunteer hours.
Volunteer Groups from churches, clubs, etc. are still required to individually complete an application and pass a background check.
We want to be respectful of your time. Please call us at 360-928-5884 with any questions you have before you complete this application.
We are grateful for your desire to work with Cascadia Clubhouse, your time, and your commitment. We look forward to working with you.
