Horizons at SRES Internship Application 2024
Thank you for expressing interest in becoming an intern for the Horizons at St. Richard's Episcopal School program! Program Description
Horizons at St. Richard's Episcopal School is a full-day summer program designed to inspire curiosity and deep engagement in learning for students that qualify for free and reduced lunches in our community. Our mission is to reduce summer learning loss and provide opportunities for students to participate in joyful learning. Horizons offers high school and college students an opportunity to make a difference for children in Indianapolis. Interns will assist in a variety of ways. Depending on assignment, interns will help to ensure our program runs smoothly by working with Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers in the classroom, assisting with field trips, providing support during pool activities, helping implement after-care programming, and participating in Horizons daily activities. Intern progress will be monitored by the Executive Director and summarized in an end of program evaluation. At the end of their time with Horizons, interns will be asked to provide a brief personal reflection regarding their experience at Horizons. The 2023 summer program runs from June 10th - July 19th.
Requirements
Applicants must be a high school or college student. Interns must be able to commit for a minimum of three consecutive weeks during the program with a daily schedule of 8:10am - 3:10pm or 11:30am - 5:30pm schedule for the entire 6 weeks of program. Applicants who are able to commit to all 6 weeks of programming and 8:10am - 3:10pm schedule will be given preference in classroom assignments to best meet students' needs. Volunteering for Horizons is a serious commitment that should be met with a sense of professionalism and dedication. Interns are expected to follow all program policies and procedures. Following submission of this form, candidates will be contacted to set up an interview with Horizons staff.
