• Chi Upsilon Omega 2026 Scholarships Application

  • Scholarship Awards: 

    • The Elrea Snellings-Gibbs Impact Scholarship-Must be a female graduating from a Leon or Jefferson County high school who plans to enroll in an undergraduate program at an HBCU (Historically Black College or University). The award amount is $1,500 for up to four years (a total of $6,000).
    • The Ivy Elite Scholarship-Must be a graduating member of the Chi Upsilon Omega Chapter's Ivy Elite mentoring group who plans to enroll in an undergraduate program at any college or university. The one-time award amount is $1,500.
    • The Promise Scholarship-Must be a graduating student (male or female) from a Leon or Jefferson County high school who plans to enroll in an undergraduate program at any college, university, or technical school. The one-time award amount is $1,000.

    GPA Requirements:

    • The Elrea Snellings-Gibb Impact Scholarship- a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (unweighted).
    • The Ivy Elite Scholarship- a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.50 (unweighted).
    • The Promise Scholarship- a minumum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 (unweighted).

    • APPLICATION DOCUMENTS
    • Two letters of recommendation from the following: one from an educator (i.e., teachers, school counselor, administrator, etc.) and the second from a member of the community (e.g., religious/community leaders, employers, etc.) who can attest to your character, scholastic achievements, and potential to be a leader in the community.
      A copy of your high school transcript, including first-semester senior grades. Black out sensitive information such as social security numbers prior to submission.
      Documents to verify your community service/volunteer hours.
      A current photograph.
      A 300-500-word typed, double-spaced essay in black using Times New Roman 12-pt. font. Please do not put your name on the essay, as it will undergo a blind review by the scholarship committee. Your essay should respond fully to the one of the two following prompts: “Many now question the value proposition of a college education. Explain why you think a college education is still a good personal, social, and professional investment.” “What is your social media footprint (the recorded information of your usage of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.)? Describe the impact of social media on interpersonal communication.” All essays will be judged on originality, content, organization, grammar, mechanics, and format.
