Please indicate below the type of interpretation services you require for effective communication. If you are unsure, descriptions of each type are provided below to assist you in making your selection.
Consecutive Interpretation: This service involves the interpreter translating the speaker's message into the target language after the speaker has paused. It is typically used in smaller interactive settings, such as meetings with members, but is also used when testifying during a committee hearing. Speakers are encouraged to pause every few sentences to allow for accurate interpretation.
Simultaneous Interpretation: This service requires the interpreter to translate the speaker's words in real-time as they are spoken, without waiting for pauses. This method is typically used for events like committee hearings, town hall meetings, and large group presentations where the flow of speech is continuous, and the information needs to be conveyed to the audience without delay.
There are times when both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation are needed at the same time, usually during a committee hearing. If you plan to attend a committee hearing and plan to testify, please select "Consecutive Interpretation" and "Simultaneous Interpretation" below.
