Policy and Procedure
Water shutoff to residence
On rare occasions it may be necessary to shut off water supply from the mains to an
individual residence. Since most SandPointe homes do not have individual curb stops,
water supply must be suspended to all of the homes on a water control block. A diagram showing the location of shutoff valves and the block of homes they isolate is posted at the clubhouse.
The resident requiring the water shutoff must fill in the Water Shutoff Notice form, sign it and have it approved by the council member responsible for the strata's infrastructure.
The shutoff period is unlikely to exceed a few minutes and is to be scheduled within a one hour time period to be identified by the resident in consultation with their contracted plumber. In determining the scheduled time the resident must confirm the availability of Pacific Western Fire Protection to manipulate the water main valves.
Once completed and approved, copies of the notice are to be made; one provided to the strata council member responsible for the strata's infrastructure, one to be posted on the outside notice board at the clubhouse and one delivered to each home in the affected control block. The notice must be provided at least 24 hours before the shutoff is to take place. The resident may make this distribution personally or hire a reputable service to do so.
The strata recognize Pacific Western Fire Protection as an approved contractor to
manipulate the water supply valves. This contractor must be used unless the council
member responsible for the strata's infrastructure agrees to some other arrangement. The costs of this service are the responsibility of the resident.
It is the resident's responsibility to ensure that adequate advance planning takes place to ensure that the required sequence of events can be accomplished in an orderly and timely manner.
