5.1 Membership categories:
a. Individual membership: Full membership is open to all scholars, professionals and policymakers who have postgraduate or advanced training in environment, agricultural, and social sciences, and related disciplines. Full members have voting rights.
Benefits: (i) Receive timely information on opportunities for training, research funding and publications on GECA thematic areas, (ii) Participate in research consortia to write and implement projects, (iii) Access GECA’s network of researchers and partner organisations, (iv) Entitled to discounts on registration and hotel accommodation for activities organized by GECA, and (v) Opportunity to publish material on GECA website (blogs, academic papers, etc), subject to approval by the Board.
b. Associate membership: Associate membership is open to scholars, professionals and policymakers who support the objectives of the Organisation but are not eligible for regular membership. Associate members have no voting rights. One can apply to the board for consideration for a associate type of membership.
Beneifts: (i) Receive GECA bi-annual online newsletter, and (ii) Invitation to attend conferences and activities organised by GECA and its network of partners
c. Student membership: Student membership is open to graduate and undergraduate students with an interest in the areas of gender, environment and agricultural studies. Student members have no voting rights.
Benefits: (i) Open to internship opportunities whenever these are available at GECA and its partner institutions, (ii) Invited to student workshops to enhance learning and interaction for junior scientists, and (iii) Information on opportunities and funding for advanced studies.
d. Honorary membership: Honorary membership accorded to those recognized for their lifetime achievements in the GECA’s thematic areas (retired academia/scientists and policy makers, and community leaders and elders). Honorary members have no voting rights.
Benefits: (i) Receive GECA bi-annual online newsletter. and publications, (ii) Invited to attend and participate at conferences organised by GECA and its network of partners, (iii) Member is profiled on GECA website and publications, and (iv) Members are recognised at GECA events.
e. Corporate membership:Corporate membership is open to institutions that support the objectives of GECA. Corporate members are allowed to vote but are limited to only one vote which would be expressed by its authorized delegate.
Benefits: (i) Collaborate with GECA on research projects and co-opt its membership, (ii) Can register a maximum of two participants at membership rates, and (iii) Corporate logo placed on GECA materials and website.
