What: A three-part program focused on the core topics that emerging leaders need to further their careers. The curriculum of the program will be tactical, developmental and inspirational with participants gaining exposure to multiple disciplines. Each session will be led by industry veterans who will provide an overview of the business of newspapers and a roadmap for the skills needed to be successful. From revenue development, content, digital, finance and more, Executive Development participants will learn from the best the industry has to offer.
Where: The three-part program includes two live meetings and four virtual meetings:
- The kickoff session will be July 16-18 in New Orleans at the offices of the Times Picayune.
- The second session will be held October 20–22 at part of Americva’s Newspapers Senior Leadership Conference in Charleston S.C,
- The wrap-up session will be Spring 2025 in conjunction with the Mega-Conference.
- Additional meeting will be held virtually via Zoom.

The Executive Development program was designed to give the next generation of newspaper leaders the opportunity to connect and gain valuable insights from industry leaders and their peers with generous support and inspiration from the Inland Press Foundation.
The Newspaper Executive Development Program is limited to 15 participants. This program is designed for motivated newspaper managers who are looking to take the next steps in their career. General managers, sales leaders, editors and managers from other disciplines from local newspapers, regional operations or corporate offices are ideal candidates. Candidates from small markets and rural areas are encouraged to participate. Nominate a deserving candidate or submit a self-nomination.
There is a cost to this program:
- $250 per participant, which includes the in-person meetings in July, October and Spring 2025. Full registration at the 2025 Mega-Conference and 2024 Senior Leadership Conference areincluded at no additional charge.
- Participants are responsible for their own travel and lodging.
- Scholarships may be available to assist with travel and lodging expenses.
