Please read through the following agreement carefully. By participating in studio programs you agree to the following.
Firing Temperature and Materials: We are firing all bisque work to cone 04 and glaze work to cone 6. All of our studio clays sold in our shop are fired to these temperatures and pre-approved for firing. If you would like to fire materials not purchased at Fifth Street Studio we must approve the firing of those materials before you submit the work for firing. We cannot, however, guarantee glaze fit with outside materials as we have not been able to test these materials with our studio glazes and firing schedule.
Pick Up: Most work is completed in 7-10 days; if you want to be very safe, please come 2 weeks after your work was dropped off to pick it up. We are no longer notifying people when their work is ready—please just come and check the outside firing bisque pickup area for bisque work and the general glaze pickup area for glaze work.
You can pick up your work during our open hours Tue-Sun 10am-8pm
NOTE: We will keep work for 5 weeks from the finished date, but please try to pick up your work ASAP once it is ready so that we can continue to process work efficiently.
Fifth Street Studio User Agreement and Responsibilities:
Statement of Liability: We will treat your pieces with the care we use when handling our own pottery; however, there is always a chance a piece will break, crack, or explode during the firing process. Fifth Street Studio assumes no responsibility for any of the above-mentioned firing or building issues that may occur, and you are still responsible for payment in full for services.
Fifth Street Studio has the right to refuse to fire any work based on construction or glaze concerns.
When having items fired in the Fifth Street Studio kiln, you certify and agree to the following:
- Only pieces made from Cone 6 or Cone 04 clay will have access to the firing services. Purchasing clay or glaze from Fifth Street Studio is highly recommended. All clay and glazes must be created using mid-fire temp products. Fifth Street Studio is not responsible if clay from outside the studio does not fire properly.
- You are responsible for wiping the bottom and foot area and any lid portions of all glazes.
- Your items' walls must be less than ½ inch in thickness unless approved by our staff.
- All items to be fired must have a legible name, usually on the bottom, that will be visible after glaze firing.
- Pieces must not have been fired previously at other facilities, we will not be able to glaze fire or third fire items that were previously fired using another facility’s kiln.
- Glaze cannot be too thick or flaking off.
Statement of Donation: Items will be considered donated to the studio if not picked up within 5 weeks of the drop off date. Fifth Street Studio will not be held liable for items not picked up within the appropriate time frame, and will offer no compensation monetary or otherwise for items that are not picked up and considered donated. Fifth Street Studio reserves the right to do what they will with these items.
