Helpful things to know:
- We need both youth and adult volunteers to make this event happen. Minimum age to volunteer is entering 7th grade. There is no maximum!
- All volunteers are required to participate in training. This year, training will be done remotely on your own schedule, but should still be taken very seriously.
- Volunteers 17 and up are required to complete a background check and Safe Gatherings- an online training that takes about 2 hours and, once complete, is good for three years.
- Volunteers are expected to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45 on VBS days. Being on time is crucial so that parents can be confident they are dropping their children off in a safe place. If you think that schedule will be a problem for you, please discuss an alternative plan with Deacon Mary.
- You should plan to be at VBS all five days; please make every effort to do so. That said, we can sometimes pair up volunteers with partial availability, so please discuss with Deacon Mary if you cannot be present all week. It is not ideal, but can still work.
- We are happy to confirm your volunteer hours if they are required for another organization. Please provide the form to Dn. Mary at the beginning of the week. If you are reporting hours to APS, contact Dn. Mary at least two weeks before VBS, because their system requires enrollment in advance of the event.
We hope that you have a great experience volunteering at VBS, and if any issues come up, please let us know! You can ask anyone who's volunteered before- seeing the kids grow, learn, and make friends throughout the week is an experience you'll never forget. Thanks for investing in their faith!
