Please answer two of the following prompts.
We're not looking for how great your grammar and spelling are. We just want to know who you really are and why you're inspired to join us this summer. We're happy to help you if you need it! Feel free to reach out: youth@parkcitychurch.org.
Prompt 1: Being a member of Joy Ride involves being part of a group and developing as a whole. What role do you typically play in a group? How will you contribute to the success of the group? *If you've been on Joyride before, what did you learn about being a valuable group member from your last Joyride experience?* Please tell us in 5 or more sentences.
Prompt 2: In 2018 Greta Thunberg, a 15 year old Swedish high school student, began protesting for her government to make important changes to stop climate change. She said, “When I’m taking action, I don’t feel like I am helpless and that things are hopeless, because then I feel like I’m doing everything I can,” she said. “And that gives me very much hope, especially to see all the other people all around the world, the activists, who are taking action and who are fighting for their present and for their future.” Have you ever felt helpless or hopeless about climate change or humans' effects on the environment? If you have, please explain in 5 or more sentences.
Prompt 3: Make a list of 25 things you're grateful for that are free or less than $2. How do you think practicing gratitude might help the group on this trip?
Prompt 4: Environmental justice means making sure that everyone has equal access to a safe environment which includes clean air, water, soil, etc. Unfortunately, polluted air, water and soil are much more likely to be found in poor areas. Why do you think there might be more pollution in a poor area and less in a wealthy area? Please explain in 5 or more sentences.
