    Illness
    Participants should not attend camp if they have a fever or symptoms of illness.
    Parents will be requested to collect participants if they develop a fever or become ill during camp hours.

    Covid-19

    Any camp participant should isolate and test if they:

    • Have a fever
    • Exhibit any Covid-19 symptoms
    • Have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19
    The participant may return:
    • After a negative rapid test
    OR
    • When no longer symptomatic after day 5

    Should any of these parameters be updated, please adhere to the most current CDC guidelines.

    Medication Administration

    In accordance with our MD Dept of Health & Mental Hygiene (DHMH) camp operation license, we are not permitted dispense medications without prior authorization.

    A Medication Administration Authorization Form must be completed in order for youth camp operators and staff members to dispense the required medication or for the camper to self administer medication.

    A new medication administration form must be completed at the beginning of
     each camp season, for each medication, and each time there is a change in dosage or time of administration of a medication.


    • Prescription medication must be in a container labeled by the pharmacist or prescriber.
    • Non-prescription medication must be in the original container with the instructions for use. Non-prescription medication includes vitamins, homeopathic, and herbal medicines.
    • An adult must bring the medication to the camp and give the medication to an adult staff member.

  • Junior Sailing Program Code of Conduct

    Program Objective: North East River Yacht Club (NERYC) Junior Sailing Program aims to provide a quality, fun and educational program for youth interested in sailing and racing, by providing students with the opportunity and fundamental skills necessary to advance in the sport of sailing as far as their interests, desire and ambition may take them.
  • NERYC Junior Program Junior Sailor Code of Conduct and Behavior Expectations

    As a participant (sailor) in any NERYC Junior Program activity I support the program mission and objectives.

    I agree I will:
    • respect the rights, dignity and self-worth of individuals and refrain from criticizing others. This includes my interactions with, team mates, competitors, officials, coaches and program staff, volunteers officials, administrators, parents, spectators and club members.
    • obey club rules, program rules, behavior expectations at all times.
    • respect and obey the coaches and program staff knowing that they have the my safety and best interest at heart.
    • comply with the coaches’ direction and guidance – listen and be attentive, be cooperative and participate with enthusiasm.
    • be a good ambassador ‐ behave in a manner that honors and promotes the program, the club and the sport.
    • demonstrate the Corinthian Spirit on and off the water, and place winning in the context of good sportsmanship and fair play – act honorably, be considerate in success, failure, victory or defeat.
    • display high standards in dress, manner, punctuality, preparation and presentation, self control, courtesy, honesty and integrity.
    • not wear clothing displaying improper words or designs.
    • zero tolerance of any form of bad language or obscene gestures.
    • zero tolerance of any type of bullying in person or online - no physical (such as but not limited to fighting, hitting, pushing) and no verbal and emotional abuse (such as but not limited to shouting, lying, criticizing, defaming, spreading rumors and lies).
    • maintain a drug free zone - I will not possess, supply or consume, smoke or vape any drugs, alcohol, tobacco or any illegal or controlled substance.
    • refrain from horseplay on and off the water: This includes shouting and or running in the club environs, rough-housing, sliding down the bank, running on, or jumping off, or pushing others off the docks, throwing sand, stones, rocks, needless capsizing, intentional boat bumping.
    • remain within the defined boundaries for junior sailing activities on land and water.
    • not leave my group, the club or any racing event venue without the express permission of my coach, the sailing director, or team coordinator. 
    • only swim when granted permission by my coach, and I must remain within the area they designate. I will wear my lifejacket and keep my head above water. I will not dunk, push hang on, or dive bomb others when swimming
    • always wear a correctly fitted life jacket and appropriate water shoes on, around or near the marina, launch areas and the water.
    • treat all Club property with care: keep the clubhouse and bathrooms, the club grounds, the marina clean and tidy. I will clean up after myself and discard trash in bins. I will keep my personal equipment neatly stowed. I will rinse off and dry myself before entering the buildings. I will treat the club boats and sailing equipment with care: avoid any loss or damage by being responsible, attentive and mindful. I will stow boats neatly and securely, and return all equipment to its appropriate place after use.
    • report any loss or damage to any equipment to a member of the Junior Sailing staff.
    • be held responsible for replacement of any equipment loss or breakage due to abuse, misconduct or negligence.

    For any serious infraction and/or failure to abide by the program rules and code of conduct, I understand and agree, at the discretion of the Program Director, I may be barred from continued, or future participation for some part of, or all of my session/s, without refund of tuition.

  • Program Parent/Guardian Conduct and Behavior Expectations


    As the Parent/Guardian of a Junior Sailor, participating in any NERYC Junior Program activity I support the program mission and objectives.

    As the junior sailors's parent or guardian I will:
    • support the Junior Sailor Code of Conduct and Behavior Expectations.
    • make certain my child/ren understand and are familiar with the Junior Sailor Code of Conduct and Behavior Expectations.
    • respect the rights, dignity and self worth of individuals and refrain from any criticism, bad language, verbal or physical abuse of others. This includes my interactions with coaches and staff, officials, administrators, parents, sailors, competitiors and spectators.
    • exemplify high standards in language, manner, punctuality and courtesy.
    • be a good ambassador ‐ behave in a manner that represents and promotes NERYC, the junior program and the sport favorably.
    • demonstrate the Corinthian Spirit and place winning in the context of good sportsmanship and fair play.
    • behave and dress at all times in a manner consistent with the standards expected of NERYC.
    • support and respect the decisions, direction and authority of the coaches and program staff knowing that they have my child’s safety and best interest at heart. 
    • allow the coaches to perform their duties without parental interference
    • ensure participants are adequately prepared to participate by insuring they are well rested, on time and suitable equipped.
    • be on time to pick up that sailor at the end of class or practice.
    • notify program staff if a participant will be absent for any reason.
    • be held responsible for replacement of any equipment loss or breakage due to the abuse, misconduct or negligence of myself or sailor/s.

    I understand and agree, in the case of any serious infraction and/or failure by my sailor/s or myself to abide by the program safety procedures, rules and behavior expections as outlined in both parent and sailor Code of Conduct, I or my child/ren may be barred from participation for some part of, or all of my sailor/s session/s and junior sailing activities, without refund of tuition or fees.

    By signing this code of conduct, all parents agree that participation in the NERYC  Junior Sailing Program is a privilege, and participation may be suspended or revoked unilaterally by the NERYC Junior Sailing Director and management team for violations of this code with or without a hearing.
