DEMI PAIR FAMILY - APPLICATION FORM

  • We usually have male and female international students arriving each month who are seeking positions as Demi Pairs with local Brisbane, Gold Coast and Melbourne families.

The average placement is 12 weeks, with the option of extending the placement if both parties agree.

The Demi Pair provides your family with 15 hours of work per week which can include the following tasks:

    • Helping with children in the morning, after school, at dinner and bath times.
    • Assisting with cleaning and housework
    • Cleaning and tidying the children’s room
    • Assisting with meal preparation and feeding young children
    • Reading stories and playtime
    • Babysitting during the week

In return for the 15 hours of work, the Host Family will need to provide the Demi Pair with their own private room, all meals and give the students an Australian family experience and assistance with language skills. The Demi Pairs will be attending English Language Schools while they are staying in your home and will provide their 15 hours of work before and after school from Monday to Friday.

As most of the Demi Pairs are in Australia on a Working Holiday Visa, they will require the weekend off for free time (However if a few hours on a Saturday or Sunday are required on occasion this may be negotiated with the Demi Pair in advance).

  • All members of the household over the age of 18 must have a current Blue Card to host international students, even if you are only hosting the over 18 students as it provides the police and background check. We can assist with Blue Card applications and they are free of charge, as Homestay is considered Volunteer.

Please note: Applicants must not sign a Blue Card application form if you are a disqualified person. The application form provides information on who is a disqualified person. Further information, including a list of disqualified offences, is available on the Blue Card Services website. If you are a disqualified person, you CAN NOT host students.

If you already hold a Blue Card that was arranged by another organisation, you will be required to complete an Authorisation to Confirm a Valid Card/Application form. Please advise us if you require this form. We have been advised by the Working With Children Check that this form must be submitted before we can place any homestay students with a new family. More information can be found on the website or please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
