PART 1/ Please note, after answering the initial adoption questions, further questions maybe asked.
PART 2/ If successful, a short video will be required of your home to see where the rescue animal would be living to speed up the adoption process and avoid any home visits needed.
PART 3/ Once you have been paired with a suitable cat/s, a 1-week trial will be offered before official adoption. A longer trial can be discussed to cats being adopted to homes with other cats.
PART 4/ After the trial; if both parties are happy, an adoption fee of 900 AED per cat will need to be sent to the vet clinic of which the pet has started their medical. The adoption fee will cover the first year's vet package which includes:
Vaccines (first PCH vaccine at 10-12 weeks, PCH booster 3 weeks later + rabies shot)
Deworming (given with first vaccine)
Microchip (given with booster vaccine)
Steralization (surgery is done at 6 months)
Pet Passport
Dubai Municipality Tag (This is to legally register your pet. You must provide an EID to the vets to do so. At this point the cat will move from the Mau and Me account to your own registration.)
After the package you are welcome to take your pet to any of your preferred vets for its annual vaccination. During annual vaccines, you will be given a new municipality tag and the records will be updated on the municipalities database.
Please ensure to keep the pet passport safe and use for all appointments, regardless of the veterinary clinic. All dates, stamps and signatures need to be kept unto date in order for the pet to travel.
The adopter also agrees to the following terms:
1. The adopter agrees the cat will remain indoors if living in an apartment or high rise building unless a catio is arranged to protect all balconies and outdoor spaces. An adopter living in a townhouse or villa with a garden agrees to wait until the cat has completed the full vet package and/or atleast 2 months in the new home before letting the cat go outside.
2. No adopted cat can be used for breeding or selling at any point. The adopter is not allowed to sell, trade, nor be involved in any activity that might jeopardise the above-mentioned cat/s health and well-being.
3. No adopted cat should be used for guarding, hunting or any commercial purposes.
4. Any adopted cat should be relocated with the adopter, if the adopter is to leave the country.
5. The adopter is not allowed to give away or change ownership of the above-mentioned cat to someone else without Mau and Me's acknowledgement and consent. If the adopter cannot keep the cat the adopter is obliged to inform Mau and Me and the Mau and Me team will have the first-hand decision on taking the cat back if able to do so. If the cat will be rehomed by Mau and Me, we will go through the adoption process with the potential adopter. The cat MUST NOT be handed to the shelter, sold off or put up for adoption without consulting Mau and Me first. A minimum of four weeks' notice should be given to Mau and Me to make necessary arrangements, if we are able to help.
6. The adopter understands the cat is in good health and that Mau and Me is not responsible for any medical fees incurred after the adoption date. However, if additional health problems develop during the first month, I should notify the Mau and Me to discuss the matter.
7. The adopter agrees to notify Mau and Me if the cat is stolen or lost.
8. The adopter understands the failure to perform the foregoing agreement will constitute a breach of contract. In an event of any such breach of contract, I authorise Mau and Me to reclaim possession of the adopted cat.
9. The adopter assumes full responsibility to comply with the U.A.E. Animal Welfare Law requirement and acknowledge that the failure to any of the herein mentioned clauses can result in legal action against the adopter.
