• Application for Policy Committee Member

    United Sikh Movement has established a Policy Committee "to provide a united voice of Sikh youth to speak on relevant issues with university student governments, campus administration, and government legislatures. The committee will meet regularly to plan and execute campaigns on campuses and in legislatures, as well as formulate policy positions on relevant campus and state actions. The committee will work with Sikh advocacy organizations as well as foster relations with existing campus advocacy organizations to complete its mission." Applicants for the Committee will be interviewed and selected by the Policy Coordinator, who chairs the Committee.
  • Committee Members

    In establishing this committee, the Board of the United Sikh Movement requires individuals of the following descriptions to serve as voting members: 1) At least two other current USM staff members. 2) One current undergraduate or graduate student from a Southern Californian university. 3) One current undergraduate or graduate student from a Central Californian university. 4) One current undergraduate or graduate student from a Northern Californian university. 5) One current undergraduate or graduate student from a non-Californian university.
  • Member Responsibilities

    A member must, at the minimum, be prepared to attend two two-hour long meetings per month, and spend the time to be prepared for such meetings. In addition, there may be tasks assigned to the members, such as writing resolutions, outreach to relevant governmental bodies, and community organizing. As such a member should be prepared to dedicate 3 hours/week to their Committee responsibilities.
