Muskegon County artists who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color, ages 18-25, are invited to apply for the third-annual Arts Council of White Lake-Nuveen Center (ACWL-Nuveen) Emerging Artist of Color Residency. Sponsored by an anonymous donor and the Consumers Energy Foundation, this three-week program will provide one to two local artists working with 2-dimensional and/or mixed-media a studio space, materials and up to 72 hours of dedicated time to pursue a visual art project of their choice. The chosen artists will receive a $1,000 stipend and special mentoring from accomplished painter and educator Tatsuki Hakoyama. Mr. Hakoyama will meet individually with the artists and help guide them toward creating a body of work that will be exhibited at the ACWL-Nuveen within six months of the completion of the residency. This program is made possible thanks to the support of an anonymous donor, the Community Foundation for Muskegon County, and Consumers Energy.
