Impact donation intakes, which take place in February and August of each year, are intended to empower and enhance the vital work of the non-profit and social-profit sectors in the communities we serve. Donation payments are typically accessible within 30 days of the confirmation.
The current intake deadline is Feb 28, 2026. If you or someone you know needs assistance filling out the form or does not have access to the Internet or a computer, please call 604-834-4238 (during business hours) or email community@firstcu.ca for assistance.
While both members and non-members can apply for an Impact Donation, preference may be given to FCU members. Initiatives must align with one or more of our focus areas: diversity, equity & inclusion, environmental sustainability, and healthy local economies.
Criteria/Considerations
- Applicants must be community-based/volunteer-run groups with a dedicated financial account OR a registered non-profit, charitable society or social enterprise operating within the communities we serve. That includes Bowen Island, Hornby Island, qathet Regional District and Comox Valley Regional District.
- Applicants will be asked to provide a written overview of the project (a couple sentences/paragraphs) once completed and a few photos or videos. First Credit Union will use this information to report on the program to internal and external audiences through impact reports and social media posts.
- Organizations that have received a branch donation are still eligible for an Impact Donation.
- Initiatives must align with our areas of focus (listed above).
- Applicants should describe the project details, including:
- Start and end dates.
- A budget outlining expenses and revenues (including contributions from any funding sources).
- Anticipated impact (e.g., how many people will be served or the intended systemic changes)
- Sustainability of the initiative. I.e., is this a one-time or a reoccurring initiative?
- Community partners. Are integral community partners involved? Does the initiative honour, build upon, or enhance current community assets?
