  • Please complete and submit the following form if you have enrolled your child for instrumental music lessons at Lighthouse Christian College (this must be done first) and would like to hire an instrument from the school.

  • TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF INSTRUMENT HIRE

     

    Eligibility:

    1. Instrument hire is for students having private instrumental lessons at Lighthouse Christian College. It is not available for students doing instrumental music outside of the school;

     

    Availability:

    2. Instrument hire from Lighthouse Christian College is subject to availability. If a student has been enrolled in lessons but there is no availability of instruments from Lighthouse, families are expected to hire or buy an instrument from an external provider as soon as possible. The music staff can offer guidance on where to access personal hire or purchase;

    3. Families may only hire one instrument per student at any time (subject to availability). This is to ensure all families at Lighthouse have access to this service;

     

    Fees and Duration:

    4. The cost of instrument hire is $100 per semester. Families may choose to hire for less than this period, however the minimum hire fee will still apply. Families may hire an instrument from Lighthouse for a maximum period of three consecutive semesters;

     

    Bond:

    5. A bond of $105 is required when hiring an instrument. The bond is refundable on return of the instrument in a similar condition to how it was when hired out (most of Lighthouse’s instruments are brand new, so there is an expectation that instruments will be returned in excellent condition);

     

    Billing:

    6. The hire fee and bond will be added to the school fees at the commencement of each semester as a separate item;

     

    Instrument Care:

    7.1 Any damage or loss to an instrument (due to the student's negligence) will result in parents being required to pay for a full replacement. Every care and attention must be given to the instrument during the period of the loan.

    7.2 The instrument is returnable on demand at any time for inspection, repair, adjustment or for any other cause. Minor repairs and adjustments during the year are the responsibility of the families/guardians at their cost.

    7.3 Loss or damage of any instrument on loan must be immediately reported to the College;

    Families are responsible to fix or replace the instrument and will be held liable for any damage caused to the instrument due to mishandling, neglect, or deliberate vandalism;

    If the instrument is stolen while leaving instruments lying around, or in the car unattended, it will not be covered by College insurance. The family will be responsible for full replacement with the cost being paid to the college. The instrument value varies from $1000 - $3000.

     

    Return and Renewal:

    8. Instruments being hired from Lighthouse Christian College MUST be returned before the end of Term 4 for inventory and servicing. Families continuing to hire after this time will then be reallocated an instrument at the start of the school year, however, this may be a different model of instrument from the one they were using previously.
