    WVHS Housing Application Process

    This form collects basic information about you and your housing needs. The purpose of this form is to assess your housing needs against our Whistler Valley Housing Society (WVHS) eligibility criteria. The below steps explain the process for applying for tenancy with WVHS:

    1. Applications must meet the criteria established by the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) Housing Agreement to be considered eligible.
    2. All applicants must declare their income and employment on the following application and upload documents as proof.
    3. The applicant will receive a confirmation email once a completed application is submitted; please contact WVHS if an email is not received.
    4. All eligible housing applications will be reviewed and prioritized based on housing need. An applicant will be informed by email whether their application is accepted or denied within four (4) weeks.
    5. WVHS does not maintain a waitlist. New vacancies will be advertised; and applicants will be required to submit a new application.
    6. If an applicant's tenancy application is successful, they have three (3) business days to accept the offer before the unit is offered to the next eligible applicant.

    You will need to upload attachments to verify your employer, and other details. These documents will only be used for the purposes of reviewing your eligibility for tenancy with Whistler Valley Housing Society, and will be deleted if your tenancy is unsuccessful.

    An employee means, an individual is either employed, or self-employed for a “Qualified Whistler Business” as an individual, partnership or incorporated body, with one or more employees, which operates a business with the following criteria: A. is operated at premises located either within the boundaries of the Resort Municipality of Whistler or at the Whistler Olympic Park; B. holds a valid business license from the Municipality that is not a “non-resident business license or is exempt from business licensing requirements; C. is a permitted use of the business premises under the Municipality’s zoning bylaw; D. primarily serves Resort Municipality of Whistler residents, homeowners, businesses or tourists; and E. in the case of a home-based or mobile business, derives more than 75% of its business income from Resort Municipality of Whistler residents, homeowners, businesses or tourists.

    WVHS follows BC Housing Pet Ownership Rules and guidelines. A tenant may keep ONE of the following animals as a Pet. • Up to two birds; • One rabbit; • Fish (an aquarium size 20 gallons or over must be requested by WVHS); • One rodent; • One ferret; • One cat, or • One dog, except a Vicious or Dangerous Dog (as defined by BC Housing). A pet deposit of 50% of monthly rent (in addition to the damage deposit) will be required at move-in. Guide and service dog teams holding valid identification cards from accredited ADI or IGDF training schools are exempt from paying a security deposit. Pets must be registered with WVHS and include: • A description sufficient to identify the cat or dog; • Proof that the cat or dog has been spayed or neutered; and • A photo of the cat or dog.
