RMA Questionnaire Form Logo
  • RMA Questionnaire Form

Please fill out this short questionnaire to help expedite the RMA process. This form may also help self-troubleshoot any issues that may have been overlooked in the installation process without having to send the product back.
  • For Nexthermal heaters and sensors NOT purchased directly through Nexthermal, please contact the original supplier for replacement.

  • Regarding the heater or sensor having on open circuit:

    1. Was it open (measuring no resistance) on receipt?
    2. If not, how long after initial use did it fail open?
  • Regarding a heater blowing a fuse:

    1. What fuse rating and type are you using in the application? (Amps, slow blow design?)
    2. Is there a GFCI used in circuit?
    3. Is there a traditional overload circuit breaker installed instead of a fuse?
  • Regarding the sensor not reading accurate vales:

    1. What calibration is the controller set to? (J/K/RTD)
    2. Are the leads extended/spliced from the original sensor wiring?
    3. Is there movement in the application?
    4. How is the sensor mounted to the application?
    5. How are the wires protected?
    6. What max temperature is the sensor going to be used for?
    7. When the temperature is being displayed on the controller do you see an unsteady reading (changing rapidly within seconds) or a offset from an expected reading which is otherwise steady?
    8. Please include a drawing that shows where the sensing location relative to the heater installation and working surface of the tool.
  • Regarding the temperature not uniform to the application:

    1. Confirm that you have 1.5x material thickness from centerline of the heater to the working surface being heated. (i.e. a Ø1/2” heater should have 0.75” distance between the heater hole center and the working surface of the tool.)
    2. Are you using heat transfer paste to avoid hotspots from air?
    3. Are there screw holes or other design features that would limit heat transfer via contact from the heater sheath?
    4. Please include a drawing that shows where in the application the heat losses. (mounting structures, air movement, etc)
    5. How is the uniformity being measured? (contact or IR camera)
    6. What is the uniformity range needed?
  • Regarding the temperature not reaching setpoint:

    1. What voltage is the heater being supplied with?
    2. Has it been confirmed with a volt meter?
    3. What are the measured amps during use?
    4. What duty cycle is the controller reporting (% time power applied)?
    5. Has the controller been auto-tuned or what are the actual PID values noted?
    6. Please include a drawing of where the sensor is located.
