The Program:
Take part in our free, two week summer engineering program where you will be able to design and build a custom audio FX sound board and enclosure. Learn about the different fields of engineering, education planning and much more! Get ahead of the curve by joining the Engineering Summer Cohort (ESC) at Mt. SAC!
Dates:
Fully In-Person
Program: August 12-22 (Monday through Thursday - 10:00 am to 12:00 pm).
Location: Mt. SAC Campus (exact room TBD, but will include the Mountie Makerspace)

Message For Students Who Do Not Meet Eligibilty:
If you do not meet the eligibility criteria below, don’t worry! We still want to see you at Mt. SAC and you are still a valuable addition to our department. Either way, please still contact Prof. Saller @ bsaller1@mtsac.edu to check for availability as we may be able to squeeze you in. At the moment, our Engineering Summer Cohort (ESC) program is targeting an enrollment of 24 high school seniors. If you have the desire, dream or are curious about engineering, we highly recommend enrolling in our Fall 2024 ENGR 1: Introduction to Engineering course. We will help you outline your career and educational goals and get you right into project-based learning. Thanks for considering our program!
Eligibility:
- Currently a high school senior who will be entering their 1st year at Mt. SAC.
- Completion of at least trigonometry (Mathetmatics - Math 150).
- Minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.5.
- Available for in-person, real-time instruction during the full class-time period for two weeks.
- Desire to potentially be an engineer and learn more about the engineering educational path.
- Enrolled in a Physics/Engineering class for the Fall Semester at Mt. SAC (this will allow you to take advantage of IT resources/laptop loan, etc.).
How to Apply:
Please read and follow all directions carefully. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

- Unofficial High School Transcript
- Applications must be submitted no later than Friday, June 21, 2024.
- Only applications submitted by this deadline are assured full consideration.
- Students will be notified of status of acceptance by Friday, June 28, 2024.
- Applications submitted earlier may be notified of a decision earlier, so it is beneficial to submit an application as early as possible if interested.
