  • Our core staff hiring for the current summer season has now been largely completed. However, staffing needs can occasionally change, and additional opportunities may become available throughout the season. We are also actively looking for reliable backup/on-call counsellors who may be available to step in as needed, as well as maintaining a shortlist of strong candidates in case positions open unexpectedly.     As a Camp Counsellor, you will play a vital role in facilitating the daily camp program for a group of co-ed campers aged 5 to 12 years. Reporting directly to the Camp Director and working collaboratively with the Location Manager, you will ensure a safe, supportive, and engaging environment while also maintaining communication with parents/guardians as needed.

    • Previous experience as a Camp Counsellor is required.
    • Graduated from or currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Education program, Early Childhood Education (ECE), or another related education program is required.
    • Previous experience as a Sport Couch is an asset.
    • Must be at least 19 years old.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and
    • coordinate campers.
    • Responsible and organized with the ability to multi-task.

      Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Supervision and Safety: Always ensure the safety and well-being of campers. Supervise them during activities, meals, and free time while enforcing camp rules to maintain a safe environment. Conduct regular headcounts to account for all campers.

    • Activity Facilitation: Understand and adhere to the daily camp activity schedule. Lead various activities such as arts and crafts, sports, STEM projects, games, and field trips.

    • Role Modeling: Serve as a positive role model for campers by demonstrating enthusiasm, good sportsmanship, respect, and positive attitude. Encourage them to participate, try new things, and develop confidence.

    • Behavior Management: Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to encourage appropriate behavior. Address any behavioral issues promptly and effectively while maintaining a calm and respectful approach. 

    • Teamwork: Collaborate with fellow counsellors, the Director, Location Manager, and Program Coordinator to plan and execute daily activities and special events.

    • Camp Cleanliness: Ensure camp equipment, supplies, and facilities are clean and organized after activities and at the end of each day.

    • Counsellors will be required from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Early morning (8:00am-9:00am) or after-care (4:00pm-5:00pm) may be required.

    • A Vulnerable Sector Check and CPR/First Aid certification will be required for the successful candidate.
