Track Day Requirements
Technical:
- Your motorcycle needs to be in good working order
- Tires and brake pads also need to be in good shape.
- Trackday organizers ask that you take the glycol coolant out and replace it with something less slippery. In the unlikely event you go down, and coolant gets spilled, it's difficult to clean it up and the track is red-flagged until it is. You need to replace your coolant. Distilled water or a mix of distilled and Water Wetter.
- You will need to tape up items that could cause debris to spread on the track if, in the unlikely event, you do go down, such as lights and mirrors. This will keep broken pieces taped together and limit debris. Also, it's important to focus on what you are doing, not others, so removing mirrors is a good idea.
- Bring zip ties with you. It is a good idea to tie your kickstand and have it on hand if needed for other items during the day.
What to wear:
- Full leathers required. Jacket and pants, one or 2 piece, with the 2nd piece having a 360 zipper
- Full Face Helmet
- Gloves that go past your wrist and cover all exposed skin
- Proper riding boots that cover the ankle
General Rules
Track days are fun and social and we are all here to share our love of riding. The best part of track days is having a safe environment to improve our riding skills, which in turn, make us better riders on the street. ASK FOR HELP! And SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE WITH OTHERS! Don't worry if you are a novice. We are here to help you improve, and those who are advanced, offer up your suggestions and advice if you see someone who may be struggling, or doing something that you could help them improve on. For those who may be offered advice, know it's in the spirit of helping improve your skill level. There is a wealth of experience at the track day. Be open to constructive criticism.
It is possible to move down a group if you feel uncomfortable in the group you are in. Keep in mind that you need to adjust to the new rules of the group you move to.
Dehydration can cause general weakness, muscle cramps, and loss of concentration – all not good things if you’re preparing to brake at the end of a straight in sixth gear. Every time you finish a session, drink a good amount of water, no exceptions. It's a common occurrence that on your first motorcycle track day you may get dehydrated if you don't take proper care.
At any track day, there will be many riders at different skill levels. Some will be on their first track day too, others will be semi-professionals. They will be very good but don’t compare. Comparing yourself and trying to keep up is the worst thing you can do. At all times you should ride within your comfort zone.
Camping and food
It's possible to arrive the day before and camp overnight, and sometimes we do which is a great time and a chance to get to know each other. The gate closes at 10 PM. If you want to come the day before, please don't arrive until after 6:30 PM.
You are on your own for lunch during track days. It's a good idea to bring lots of water, and food for the day. There is a concession, but uncertain if open when we are there.
Have fun! Track days are meant to be social and fun, and developing skills at the track will only improve your riding on the street. The track is addictive and we are excited for the 2024 season. Ride Safe and Let's Just Ride!
