Our Mission and Minimum Requirements
We are specifically looking for parents (moms or dads), professionals, and adults who are deaf/hard of hearing, age 18 and older who want to volunteer their time to further our mission.

Illinois Families for Hands & Voices is a parent-driven, non-profit organization that supports families with children who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing without a bias around communication modes or methodologies.
Applicants should consider before applying that they can adhere to the Illinois Hands & Voices mission (above in orange) and fulfill these minimum requirements of the position of "Board Member":

Completion of Mentor/Mentee Program once elected.Knowledge of the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs.Regularly read and understand the organization’s financial statements.Advocate for the organization by identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission.Leverage connections, networks, and resources to fully achieve the organization’s mission.Maintain an active membership status annually while holding a position on the Board of Directors.Identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing.Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings.Participate fully in one or more committees.Participate in annual fundraising project (this could be 5K, Gala, auction or similar event).
