Scholarship awards are based on:
Minimum Requirements:
- Expressed interest in working in the heavy/civil industry in Ohio is REQUIRED.
- Merit potential based on REQUIRED submission of your transcript (a student copy is acceptable).
- Recommendations from (2) professors (REQUIRED-VIA LINK BELOW).
- Expressed financial need.
- Content of REQUIRED resume.
Special consideration will be given for:
- A letter of reference from one or more OCA member firm (s); (if you have worked with an OCA member and do not submit a letter from them a penalty will be applied). If you are uncertain if or not the company is a member, you can email: lpomeroy@ohiocontractors.org
- Participation in OCA's Constructor for a Day Program.
- Participation in OCA's Estimating Competition.
Remember, this is your ONLY opportunity to tell your story - what brought you to heavy/civil construction in Ohio? Why does our industry in Ohio need you? The more the committee knows and understands your particular story, the better able they will be to assess award qualification.
Incomplete application packets will not be considered. NO EXCEPTIONS.
ELIGIBILITY
1. The student must plan to work in the heavy/civil industry in Ohio.
2. The student must be a citizen of the United States and be in either the third, fourth or fifth year of a B.S./B.A. degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or Construction Management, OR in the second year of an Associate Degree program in Civil Engineering,
Construction Technology, Construction Management, or a related area at the time of submitting this scholarship application and receiving the award.
3. All sections of the application form packet must be completed and returned to the Ohio Contractors Association by Friday, November 8, 2024.
Scholarship awards will be announced in November.
