The Ohio Contractors Association (OCA) is “the voice” of the heavy civil construction industry in Ohio. Members rely on staff expertise in critical areas like Legislative and Environmental Affairs, Public Agencies (including ODOT), General and Industry Specific Labor and Employment Law, and Safety-Focused advocacy, Education and Awareness. OCA facilitates industry collaboration, through meetings, programs and events, champions the development of today's workforce and tomorrow's industry leaders, and connects members with discounts that deliver bottom-line impact.
Scholarship awards are based on the applicant’s merit potential, expressed financial need, and demonstrated interest in the heavy civil construction industry in Ohio. The Scholarship Committee, comprised of several association members, will determine the dollar amount to be awarded based on the application, including the expressed interest in our industry in Ohio. Remember, this is your opportunity to tell your story - why are you interested...what brought you to heavy civil construction? The more the committee knows and understands your particular situation, the better able they will be to assess award qualification.
Incomplete application packets will not be considered.
ELIGIBILITY
1. The student must be a citizen of the United States and be in either the third, fourth or fifth year of a B.S./B.A. degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology or Construction Management, OR in the second year of an Associate Degree program in Civil Engineering,
Construction Technology, Construction Management or a related area at the time of submitting this scholarship application and receiving the award.
2. All sections of the application form packet must be completed and returned to the Ohio Contractors Association by Friday, May 3, 2024; it is incumbent upon the applicant to verify OCA has received the required recommendations, transcripts - and the application.
Scholarships will be announced in May and may be awarded at an OCA meeting scheduled around the state during the second quarter of 2024.
CRITERIA
1. Selection of recipients will be based upon the submission of a fully completed application. It is the responsibility of the application to verify receipt by OCA of all required components.
2. The students must have two College/University Recommendation Forms from professors/instructors May 3, 2024. No exceptions can be made.
3. A recommendation from an OCA member company or individual, while not required, will weigh in the favor of the applicant-particularly as it relates to your work.
4. A college/university transcript must be included; a student copy will be accepted.
