  • Border 2 Border Networking Connections Bylaws & Expectations

    - Membership Agreement: In order for a networking group to be productive, successful, and fun, all members must familiarize themselves with the expectations, rules, and ethics. The following is a list of rules, expectations, and ethics for Border to Border Business Connections. Please sign and date.  1. Meeting Time: is from 7:00 am- 8:30 am at Huron River Methodist Church.  You are expected to be in the room ready to network at 7:00 am sharp. Your promptness is expected.  2. Dues: Current dues are $300 per year, due February 1st of each year. subject to change. Dues cover Administrative expenses (paper, ink, tools for the team), Networking events, local conference fees, team building events, team growth visitor events, dexter daze booths, Monthly room rental dues, Charitable contribution events, Subject to change. After February 28th with no payment, dues  are considered late.There will be a late fee of $25 applied on February 28th and $25  at the end of each month until April 30th.During this time of nonpayment, the member will not be able to participate in “asks”,  presentations, or continue the specific member role in our group during the nonpayment period.After 90 Days, currently April 30th,  of nonpayment you will be dismissed from B2BBusiness Connections group and your business category will open up.  With leadership and membership discretion, If you are under hardship, and wish to set up a payment plan on Feb1st of $100 per month, the final payment of $100 due April 1st, the Non-Payment rules will not apply. Members who join after February 28th will have a prorated amount fee based on how many months are left in our dues calendar year that currently go from February 1st through January 31st.   3. Attendance: Members are expected to attend meetings regularly. For networking to be effective it is necessary to have good attendance. a. A member may miss up to 3 meetings in a 6 month period. The 6 month period is defined by our calendar year. Feb 1st through July 31st and August 1 through January 31st.  b. A member may have another person fill in for him or her as a guest substitute that will not count as an absence. The guest substitute is intended to be your representative for that meeting and, as such, will be responsible for providing a 45-second commercial on the member’s business. The substitute may also introduce their business as long as this person is from a business exclusive of the other members in the group.  c. If the member has communicated in a 3-way form of digital communication that included the substitute, leadership person, and member, and the sub does not attend the meeting as intended, the member will not receive an absence. d. In addition to the 3 absences, a member may utilize technology up to 3 times during their six-month periods such as zoom, to take part in the meeting when they can’t be present for any reason, which will not result in an absence. (3 physical absences / 3 zooms allowed in a 6 month period).e. When a member misses their 4th absence in a 6 month period, a buy-back option may be implemented for $200. This will be a case-by-case situation and voted on by the Membership committee team.  4. Leave of Absence: a. Parental Leave: For both men and women. May last no longer than 12 weeks. The request must be made to the Membership Committee by the member. Membership Committee will approve/deny requests. It is encouraged to find subs during the leave.  b. Medical leave: 3 weeks or more illness for yourself or family member, also bereavement. No more than 12 weeks. The request must be made to the Membership Committee by the member. Membership Committee will approve/deny requests. It is encouraged to find subs during the leave.  5. Accountability: In an effort to keep our networking team moving forward we will track the following:a. Referrals given and referrals received. And the depth of the referral. i.e; generation 1,2,3,4...This will be done through our google document. b. Profits from referrals. The amount of goods sold or profited through commissions or payments from referrals. This will be tracked through google documents. 6.  Finances:  The group has agreed to have a bank account with PNC Bank for all of our members' dues and expenses.  The current president and treasurer will have signature authority.  In addition to those positions, a member of the membership committee and another general member will have signature authority, to be decided by the current president and treasurer.The executive leadership team has the authority to spend up to $150 per quarter (once every 3 months) for the day to day operations of Border 2 Border networking group without the general membership vote. All 3 executive team members must all agree on the expenditures and the expenditure must be reported and tracked in our weekly treasurer’s report, regardless of amount.Exception to this rule: All donations, fundraising or charitable givings must be voted on by general membership regardless of amount. General membership has voted to pay up to $10 per week on Facebook boosts for the weekly 10 minute presenter. On a trial period starting in January of 2023. Continuation of this expenditure will be evaluated after 6 months. This $10 does not include the $150 per quarter of discretionary leadership spending.  Ethics and Goals: 1. I will do my best to bring quality referrals to the team on a weekly basis. 2. I will do my best to honor referrals with the swiftness of follow-up and service the referral with integrity. 3. I will give honest quotes for service rendered. 4. I will do my best to get to know members of the B2B Business Connections by engaging in small networking sessions outside of normal meeting time. 5. I promise to treat each member with respect. 6. I will be proactive in participating in philanthropy projects that the B2B Business Connections participate in. 7. I understand that being a member of another closed networking group is prohibited. (closed networking groups are defined as groups like B2B that allow one business per profession). 8. I understand that only one member per profession will be a member of B2B Business Connections.
