Winter 2025 Film & Digital Media Proposal
Film & Digital Media funds support student and faculty art projects that use moving images. These projects may either be solely video/film or may incorporate video/film as an element in a larger work (installation, web-based, etc.)

Film and Digital Media class applications must be submitted prior to the deadline: February 12th at 12:00pm.

Faculty must discuss their proposals with the department chair prior to submitting their online application.

Students must have the support of a full-time faculty member and must include a paragraph-long statement from their faculty mentor in their submission that indicates how the faculty mentor intends to support this project.

Please be aware of the following guidelines for Film & Digital Media projects:
- Eligible projects should:
  - Be proposed by currently enrolled students who are majors in the Department of Art, or by faculty in the Department of Art.
  - Use moving images in art in conceptually, visually, or technically innovative ways.
  - Facilitate learning through the creation process. Priority will be given to projects that provide students with opportunities for mentored learning with faculty members or off-campus professionals.
  - Demonstrate excellence through the exhibition of the completed work on and’/or off campus.
- Funding can be used for:
  - Expendables/supplies, travel, equipment rental, wages where reasonable (cinematographer, colorist, or other skilled labor) and other relevant expenses.
Funds CANNOT be used to purchase equipment or software.
Funds CANNOT be used to pay for the travel or accommodation expenses of students' family members (spouse, children, etc.)
Funds CANNOT be used to pay wages or per diem expenses (such as meals) for those involved in submitting the application.

Student funds awarded must be expended and reported before the end of the current semester. If this deadline needs to be extended, please submit a written request to the Department of Art.

After submissions are made, the department coordinating council will review applications for final funding decisions. Applicants will be informed of the council's decision.

NOTE: Applications cannot be saved and completed later. Ensure you have all necessary application information BEFORE you begin.

Project Budget

Prepare a one-page budget request for financial assistance to include supplies, expendable materials, travel expenses, lodging, etc. This fund cannot pay for the purchase of equipment, but can fund equipment rental.

Moving Image Forms: How are moving images essential to this project? In what ways will this project be conceptually, visually, or technically innovative? What is the anticipated final form of the project? What skills, techniques, and tools will be needed in its creation?*
Project Team List: Provide a list of participants with names, contact information and creative role (e.g. writer, cinematographer, composer, editor, etc. as applicable).*
Timeline/Shooting Schedule: Please provide a phased timeline for the project (e.g. development, production, and post-production beginning and end dates).*
Funding Statement: Provide a detailed report of all internal and external funding and other potential funding sources.*
