APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS AND GUIDELINES
1. Recipient must be attending an accredited post-secondary institution in the 2024/2025 academic calendar year, and has graduated from high school in 2024 or 2023. (Limited to students who are attending their first year of university or college, student's who have taken 1 gap year will still be accepted).
2. The applicant’s immediate family member (parent or legal guardian) must be an active member of Winkler Co-op for a minimum of one year and must have had purchases during the previous fiscal year in excess of $1500. (Rule does not apply to members from communities where Winkler Co-op has recently begun operations – Rosenort, St. Joseph)
3. All scholarships must be used for the educational purposes stated or the awarded sum must be returned to Winkler Co-op.
4. The selection of the successful applicant is strictly at the discretion of the Winkler Co-op officials sitting on the scholarship committee.
5. No additional supporting documents other than the following will be accepted and reviewed by the committee:
- The applicants school transcripts from grade 11 and partial grade 12
- Two community reference letters
- Max. 500 word essay (approx. 2 pages double spaced) describing your future goals and community involvement:
- The essay must be typed and in size 12 Times New Roman Font.
- Please include the word count on the bottom of your essay.
- Handwritten essay submissions will not be accepted.
6. Deadline for handing in scholarship applications is May 23, 2024. The successful applicant will be notified in early June.
7. The successful applicant will receive the scholarship funds on presentation of a letter of acceptance from the admissions office of the institution, and subsequent proof of full-time course enrolment.
