ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- A 2026 graduating senior from one of the public high schools in Newport News, VA.
- Minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- SAT of 900 or higher ACT of 19 or higher
- African-American female senior
- Be accepted for admission and attend a Historically Black College or University
- Preference given to involvement in any organizations that promotes education and or planning to major in Education.
- Have demonstrated an excellent record of conduct, leadership potential and /or community involvement.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
The applicant will:
- Submit completed application form that is available at http://www.nnacdst.org
- Submit one (1) Essay that specifically addresses the topic in the application.
- Submit one (1) signed letter of recommendation from a teacher/administrator (pen & ink signatures only - no electronic signatures)
- Submit one (1) signed letter of recommendation from a church, civic or other community group (on letterhead--pen & ink signatures only- no electronic signatures)
- Submit an official high school transcript
- Submit the application form and all requested items electronically to http://www.nnacdst.org.
Applications are due by Monday, March 23rd, 2026
APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED ELECTRONICALLY.
HAND CARRIED APPLICATIONS AND TRANSCRIPTS WILL NOT BE
ACCEPTED.
