Because CFSA, as an agency, recognizes the importance of equity and inclusion in Keeping DC Families Together, the DEIB steering committee was created to ensure our practices address disproportionality and striving to be inclusionary with people of all identities and protected classes, and embracing intersectionality, so all stakeholders, internal and external, feel a sense of belonging.
We have done great work over the past three years to outline CFSA's DEIB Philosophical Statement, assess the Agency's current culture and climate, develop our Agency's DEIB glossary.
Time Commitment: The DEIB Steering Committee meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 12:00pm - 1:00pm. The DEIB Subcommittees also meet for at least one hour per month. The overall time commitment per month will be between 3-4 hours per month, depending on the task at hand.
We are now moving from the planning phase to the implementation phase and need your support on one of the following subcommittees. Please review and let us know which subcommittee you'd like to join.
Communication
The Communication Subcommittee will develop the communication plan and strategy for the Agency’s DEIB work. This group will identify necessary messaging, develop agency and public facing documents that share the DEIB Philosophy, Core Values, and Framework.
Continuous Quality Improvement/Evaluation
The CQI/Evaluation Subcommittee will integrate the work of the previous Data Subcommittee to focus on developing a CQI and evaluation plan for the Agency’s DEIB efforts. This subcommittee will work closely with the Performance Accountability and Quality Improvement Administration (PAQIA) team to enhance the Agency’s current QSR process with a focus on DEIB.
Policy & Practice
The Policy and Practice Subcommittee will focus on the development of the Agency’s DEIB policy that is aligned with current District standards and integrates the Agency’s DEIB Framework and the Agency’s Racial Equity Action Plan. This subcommittee will also support the creation of a policy development tool that will support the Agency’s policy team in ensuring DEIB standards are present in current and future policies.
Training
The Training Subcommittee will provide information on the practices of inclusion and belonging that align with the Agency’s Philosophical Statement and DEIB Framework with agency staff and partners. This subcommittee will create a roll-out plan for various trainings related to the DEIB Framework and develop tip sheets, classroom training, self-paced or self-guided training, coaching and mentoring opportunities.
