Exhibits will be received at the Heritage Tent, inside Fairgrounds by Gate 2 on the following dates only:
CANNED GOODS ONLY
Saturday, September 7 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Tuesday, September 10 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
ALL FOODS
Wednesday, September 11 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Exhibits will be released to Entrant no sooner than 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 15 at the Heritage Tent. Earlier release is not permitted unless weather or other circumstances have altered the hours of the Fair. Entrants must pay Fair entry if arriving prior to close of Fair.
Items not picked up by 7:00 p.m. on Sunday will be transferred to the IOW County Parks and Recreation office at 13036 Nike Park Rd., Carrollton, VA 23314 and will be made available for pickup Wednesday, September 18. Contact Parks and Recreation at 757-357-2291 for coordination.
No entry fees will be charged for your item, but all exhibitors must pay to enter the Fair.
Each Foods Exhibitor is limited to five (5) entries per Baked Goods, five (5) entries per Candy, and ten (10) entries per Canning.
Canned Goods must be canned by Entrant within the last one (1) year of Fair date. Can must not have decoration. Entry will not be accepted if it has been entered in a previous IOW County Fair year or if date of canning is left off of registration.
All entries must be produced from scratch and include ingredients list with registration form on either an index card or provided information card found in this premium book.
Entrants will receive entry tag stub at the time of entry drop off.
All entries will be displayed, tasted (except canning entries, but excluding pickle tasting contest entries), and judged per the Registration Form as filled out by the Registrant.
The Heritage Committee will set up all exhibits. No exhibitor will be allowed to set up, handle, or rearrange their entry.
The judge's decision is FINAL.
Perishables must be delivered on sturdy, disposable trays and contained within clear plastic, preferably Ziploc type bags or clear-top foil disposable container.
Junior and Elementary categories for Baked Goods & Candy divisions only.
USDA approved canning methods - jars & lids standard mason sizes. All jars must be sealed by Hot Bath or Pressure Canning technique. Do not remove rings. Jars should be labeled as to not inhibit view of contents by judges.
May enter 99 and 100a with 2 jars. Will be judged separately.
Entries may be disqualified/not judged/ not displayed if:
Self-identifying characteristics displayed on front of exhibit
Rules above not adhered to
Item not fresh for tasting/judging
Please note: The Heritage Arts, Crafts, and Food Tent is drafty and damp. Artwork is subject to fade, color change, and warping. Foods may mold, sweat, and/or attract insects. The Fair assumes no responsibility in case of loss, theft, damage due to environmental reasons. The Fair will take every possible precaution to protect exhibits. Fair volunteers will be monitoring the Heritage Tent and its entries during fair operating hours. Entrants may purchase insurance on their items at their own discretion.
