The Executive Committee of the Pittsburgh Presbytery has formed The Alliance for Honor and Repair. The charge for this Alliance is ‘to support the Black Presbyterian Churches by engaging in a thorough review of the experience of these congregations through history and to offer recommendations on actions of repair. This charge is given so that the Pittsburgh Presbytery may become a more harmonious, joyful, and just community within the Body of Christ.’
We cannot do this work alone, and we look forward to engaging our support team of other members of this Presbytery that have offered their time and talents to the Alliance. We also look forward to inviting the members and churches of this Presbytery on this journey with us. To that end the Alliance will be hosting a six-week book club on ‘From Here to Equality’, by William Darity & Kirsten Mullen. This book examines why and how reparations should be made for Black Americans today.
The club will gather from 6:00 to 7:00pm for six Mondays, starting April 15th.
