Steering Committee: The Steering Committee is responsible for making strategic decisions that guide the implementation of DEAN’s work plan, projects, and special events. It reviews and determines which proposed initiatives will move forward, ensuring alignment with the network’s priorities and goals. The committee provides strategic oversight by monitoring progress from ideation through implementation, and by reviewing proposals, budgets, timelines, and overall performance to ensure successful execution.Quarterly Coffee Chat and Tea Time Talk Stakeholder Meetings: DEAN convenes quarterly sessions to engage OST partners and champions in sharing timely information on policies, initiatives, and emerging priorities. These meetings provide a collaborative forum for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and alignment with the broader stakeholder community.Professional Development Opportunities (in-person and virtual training, workshops, webinars and conferences)Youth Work Methods Courses: Youth Work Methods are evidence-based strategies grounded in more than 50 years of research and practice in positive youth development. Offered as live or self-paced online workshops, these 10 interactive methods are based on the Weikart Center’s Pyramid of Program Quality and are designed to equip point-of-service staff with practical skills that can be applied immediately to enhance program quality and youth outcomes.Learn Fresh NBA Math Hoops: Through community, play, and rigorous exploration, this program leverages students’ passion for sports and entertainment to deepen engagement in STEM learning while strengthening social-emotional skills.Mizzen Education App: Built in collaboration with practitioners, this free digital platform offers thousands of curated K–12 learning resources designed to spark curiosity, joy, and a love of learning. From STEM and the arts to youth voice, digital literacy, and media literacy, Mizzen Education provides engaging, high-quality content to support diverse learning experiences for young people everywhere.STEM Next Community of Practice: Advancing equitable access to high-quality out-of-school STEM opportunities for Delaware’s young people, empowering them to thrive in STEM and beyond through career connected learning, collaboration, shared learning, and strategic partnerships.

This work prioritizes high-quality school-community partnerships to ensure all children have access to enriching learning experiences beyond the school day.Quality – Helping Students Become Thriving, Productive Adults: Strengthening statewide systems to ensure the delivery of high-quality afterschool, out-of-school time, and summer learning programs. This work supports positive youth development and equips students with the skills and experiences needed to become thriving, productive adults.Sustainability – Strengthening Afterschool, Out-of-School Time, and Summer Learning Programs and Professionals: Establishing a statewide measurement framework for Delaware’s afterschool and out-of-school time programs that emphasizes data-driven accountability, continuous improvement, and positive youth development outcomes.
