10. I/we agree to inform the staff of any changes in my/our child's life, which may affect their daily care.
11. I/we agree to provide any legal directives that may involve my/our child.
12. I understand that the staff at Noke' Childcare is required by law to report any suspected child abuse or neglect to the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
13. If my/our child is unable to attend the childcare centre due to illness or vacation, I/we understand that I/we must pay full fees for the time your child is away, if I/we wish to maintain our spot. Fees may be waived if vacation days are pre-scheduled with Angela preferably with a minimum of two weeks notice.
14. I/we understand that the childcare centre operates between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday, but that my child may be in attendance only during the hours and days agreed upon. If an unforeseen circumstance arises, your child's attendance outside the specified days and hours may be discussed with Angela Isaac in advance.
15. I/we agree to make an effort to inform the staff if I/we will be earlier/alter than my allotted time. If I/we wish to change our child's hours, I/we need to obtain approval of Angela Isaac.
16. I/we give permission for the staff to take my/our child to parks, shops, libraries, or other outings by walking, stroller, wagon, bicycle, or vehicle.
17. I/we understand that should I/we encounter problems with the centre, which I/we will attempt to resolve any concerns first with Angela Isaac. Should I/we not be willing or able to come to an amicable resolution, I/we understand that I/we will be asked to withdraw from the childcare centre.
18. I/we understand that Noke' Childcare may not be able to meet the needs of every child. I/we understand that Noke' Childcare will strive to accommodate each child, but occasionally it may be necessary to ask that a child be withdrawn outside of the two week introductory period. I/we understand that Angela will try to give me at least one (1) month's notice in the event of a required withdrawal, unless the situation is dangerous. In this case immediate withdrawal will be necessary.
19. Reminders of this policy will be sent out as necessary in the child’s lunch kit.
The following policy represents an understanding of section 48 in the Child Care Licensing Regulation found here:
https://www.bclaws.gov.bc.ca/civix/document/id/complete/statreg/332_2007#section48
Children are to have balanced and nutritious food in a labeled lunch bag which is placed into the fridge upon arrival. The bag should contain a healthy morning snack, a main afternoon lunch, and an after lunch snack which may be sweet if desired (no candy please). Guardians will be asked to please reference the following link: https://www.healthlinkbc.ca/healthy-eating-physical-activity/food-and-nutrition/plan-shop-and-prepare/lunches-go
Children choose how much and if they wish to eat presented food. Food is not used as a reward or punishment. Children are never forced to eat and always supervised while eating. First snack is at 9, lunch is at noon, and afternoon snack is at 3pm.
The children younger than 36 months are served their items individually while the older children may open their kits themselves and are encouraged to eat a healthy item for morning snack, their main entree for lunch, and a treat or second snack for afternoon. If the children are unable to choose their snacks we will ask that parents label morning, lunch, and afternoon containers and the child will receive the food in this order. The purpose is twofold- to ensure perishables are eaten and to facilitate the consumption of nutritional food.
Water bottles should also be sent daily. If emptied, the water will be filled from municipal water on site. The municipal water is treated and has been tested for heavy metals. Please do not send juice, pop, or chocolate milk.
If a child’s lunch bag contains candy or sweet drinks the item will be removed. The child will be advised that it is to be kept for pick up time and the guardian will receive it back. If inappropriate items continue to be sent, a meeting between myself (the licensee, owner, and sole staff member) and the parents will be organized to review the policies.
Noke Childcare will have items such as cheese, yogurt, fruit and squeeze pouches on hand should a child have minimal lunch or one that is not nutritious enough as per the Canada Food Guide. If a snack from Noke Childcare was provided the parent will be notified by receipt of a note in the child's lunch bag and verbally at pick up if a private conversation is possible. If a child comes without or minimal items three times Noke Childcare will re-evaluate their policies and potentially meet with parents about a change in the policy.
Advise Noke Childcare of any dietary needs and/or restrictions. Allergies and dietary restrictions are taken into account, and are posted in the kitchen on the fridge. All parents will be advised in advance if there is a child on site with an anaphylactic allergy.
There is a microwave for warming food, however, if the food is meant to be warmed
please have it in a glass container separate from foods meant to be kept cold.
As (a) parent(s) using the services of Noke' Childcare we/I agree to comply with the requirements outlined above. I/we understand that failure to comply with the items outlined in this agreement may result in the termination of childcare services.
